Since the majority of the characters in this game will already be employed, it's likely that this will factor into your character application. As such, below are some guidelines on what we will be reviewing on jobs. A much more detailed list will be available to players, but this should give you a general idea of how to incorporate this into your application. If you're unsure what would best fit, you can certainly save that part of your character for pre-gaming, and we'd be happy to help you figure out something awesome.

We are not currently accepting any more pub employees or business owners under the age of 30.

Choosing a Job

When choosing your character's job/profession, please keep game balance in mind. Having too many characters in one particular area limits the opportunities for unique exploration of that area of their lives. Under normal circumstances, there should be no more than 2 played characters in one business, type of job, or department (of a larger establishment). Due to the nature of this game, there are two immediate exceptions--we will allow up to 5 total members of the Auror squad ¹ and up to 4 total Healers. The other departments within those organizations should hold to the maximum of 2. Special exceptions can be made to this limit by request and justification to the mods.

Also in the interest of game balance, we will be attempting to maintain a relatively even spread of professions across the different areas listed below. You do not need to do anything in particular to track this; however, please know that we will be looking at this type of thing, so it's always possible we could let you know that too many people have chosen a particular area, and that you'll need to rethink your choice. We will likely have alternatives to offer, when such a thing is possible.

Please keep in mind that at any given time, there could be other characters that have been submitted for approval, and those potential players could have requested the same job you want. It may not actually be available by the time we review your application. If at all possible, please do not base your characterization on a sole job opportunity.
